Bungonia National Park - Bungonia
Bungonia State Recreation Area is the largest recreation area in NSW.
The area has hilly ridges of the dry sclerophyll forests, flora and fauna and deep limestone caverns. The gorge at Bungonia Creek is the most spectacular feature - it is the deepest in Australia and among the most dramatic in the world.
Please note that Spring Creek Canyon and the caves in the adjacent property 'Carne' are closed indefinitely. Entry to these caves is not permitted.
All rock sport activities (caving, abseiling, canyoning or rock climbing) and bushwalking must register at the office before proceeding into the park.
The camping area has hot showers, toilets and a community kitchen with indoor fireplace. Day-use and picnic facilities are provided at most parking areas. Bush camping is permitted in the Shoalhaven River area after advising the Park Ranger. Campers are reminded to bring their own water.
Opening times
Office open 9am to 4:30pm Monday to Wednesdays and most weekends
