As well as being a worthwhile place to visit in its own right, the town of Wellington is also a popular stopover on the way to Dubbo. Visitors to the area will often take the chance to visit the enormous Wellington Caves, home to incredible limestone stalagmites, stalactites and other natural rock formations. Take a guided tour of the caves to explore their massive interiors for yourself, all while learning about the caves’ history and preservation.

Visitors will find that Wellington and Dubbo’s events are both interesting and inclusive of all ages. The region is home to a number of exciting fairs and festivals, including the Mumbil Blackwattle Fair and Wellington SpringFest. In late March, locals and visitors alike will gather for the Lake Burrendong Fishing Classic, a catch and release fishing competition with $35,000 worth of prizes on offer. All funds raised over the weekend will go towards worthy causes such as fishing education and habitat restoration.
