Adventure in Mulwala-Yarrawonga
The Murray River flows though the twin townships of Mulwala and Yarrawonga, creating sandy stretches of beach. Join the waterskiers, fishermen and birdwatchers who happily share Lake Mulwala.
The border town of Mulwala lies on the western shore of Lake Mulwala in Country NSW; the twin town of Yarrawonga lies on the Victorian side. Mulwala is a 90-minute drive west of Albury. The lake was created in the 1930s after a weir was built across the Murray River. Today, Lake Mulwala is the focus for water-based activities, including boating, fishing and waterskiing. From apartments and resorts to holiday parks, there's a range of waterfront accommodation available here.
There are plenty of things to see and do around Mulwala. Have a picnic on the small river beaches along the banks of the Murray, go fishing on the lake â try your luck at hooking the elusive Murray cod â or join a tour and cruise the lake. You can also hire a houseboat and explore the waterways at your leisure. Cycling enthusiasts will enjoy pedalling the bike paths around Mulwala and neighbouring Yarrawonga, while golfers will love the stunning views at Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club Resort.
