The Newnes Kiosk is within the bar of the now de-licensed Newnes Hotel, the last surviving building from the days of oil-shale mining at Newnes. The kiosk is open weekends and supplies information on the local Newnes area. Soft drinks, ice creams and a limited range of camper supplies are also stocked. Cabin accommodation is also now available.
Newnes is surrounded by Wollemi National Park, part of the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area. The kiosk is adjacent to camping (free within the National Park) and close to the (open access) ruins of the Newnes oil-shale works. A bushwalk (nine kilometre round trip) to the Glow-worm tunnel starts on the Wolgan Road, 6.5 kilometres before Newnes.
Opening times
9.30am to 5pm Saturday, 10.30am to 5pm Sunday, closes at 6pm in summer. Kiosk may be open at other times during the week. Closed Good Friday and Christmas Day
