El'Circo

El'Circo puts guests through the hoops with performances and a 9 course menu every Sunday.

Held in Slide bar & nightclub, El'Circo was started up in 2007 by Marc Kuzma. As the General Manager of Slide, he wanted to create a different European style venue that wasn't just a bar, or nightclub, but a different level of entertainment all together.

Marc has certainly outdone himself because El'Circo has different acts every week. They are a mix of performance art, music (everyone from The Whitlams to The Veronicas have played here), comedy and theatre.

Described as ‘the darker side of Cirque Du Soleil', El'Circo is kinky, kooky and an amazing amount of fun. The food served here is not like anything you've tried because it's served with a story and in weird and wonderful ways you've got to see to believe.

Verushka is the host of the evening and as each course makes its way to your table she explains the menu and the story behind it, which is all part of her comedy routine.

El'Circo combines amazing food with stunning cabaret acts that are guaranteed to steal the show.

Some of the dishes you may find on the menu:

Main

  • Shagpile prawn with mango XO sauce ersatz
  • Three Tasmanian cheese, egg, and air - an experiment
  • Moroccan lamb pie with tomato sauce
  • Double baked 3 cheese soufflé
  • Virtual truffled mushroom risotto

Dessert

  • Lavender brûlée
  • Bitter chocolate tart with orange molecular caviar

Piano Room

Horizon Hotels present a refreshing new venue that is part cocktail lounge, part supper club and cabaret room with a decidedly more grown-up ambience in mind. Piano Room is situated directly underneath the neon ripple of Sydney 's iconic Coca-Cola sign on the podium level of Kingsgate Tower , Kings Cross, and presents a new take on old school style.

As the name implies, Piano Room will present a rolling roster of live entertainment. At classic cocktail hour, resident pianist, Scott Pinney will set a smooth pace with guest artists appearing from supper onwards playing jazz, soul, rhythm & blues.

Chef, Warwick Leese, has created an easy to approach menu of classic selections in elegant serving sizes, many of which are conducive to sharing. In keeping with the culture, service extends through to 11pm for the classic menu, with additional menu options for private events available upon request.

The food, like everything else, is stylish and eclectic so it suits Piano Room down to the ground. There's a tapas menu with light and heavier options and of course, sumptuous desserts that are as sexy as the place itself.

The bar selections are a true reflection of the Piano Room style. An extensive cocktail menu forms the base with a wide range of the true classics, from martinis to manhattans, on offer as well as a varied choice of nouveau cocktails.

As well as the piano space in the middle of the lounge you can sit along the bar, go outside on the patio or kick back in privacy in the lounge reserved for private functions.

The tip on getting into the Piano Room is that you can pre-book your table on weeknights but on weekends it's usually ‘first in best dressed' for seats. And keep in mind when you visit Piano Room the dress code is smart attire so it's the perfect excuse to doll up for a night on the town.

Some of the dishes you may find on the menu:

Tapas

  • Grilled quail with Iranian cous cous, red peppers and herb sauce
  • John dory with grilled fennel and preserved lemon & olive dressing
  • Braised beef cheeks with cavelo nero (black cabbage) and mustard seed sauce
  • Albondigas Spanish meatballs in tomato sauce

Dessert

  • Banana fritter in pan with caramel sauce and vanilla buffalo ice cream
  • Chocolate and Cherry Ripe brownie with chocolate sauce
