Summer holidays are fast approaching and what better way to spend them than to get the whole family into camping and outdoor fun! There’s no better time to get in touch with nature because at the Penrith Caravan Camping & Holiday Expo there’s a pre-summer holiday sale with heaps of bargains and new stuff to check out.

The Penrith Caravan Camping and Holiday Expo is on at Penrith Panthers from Friday September 16th to Sunday September 18th. It is open 9am – 5pm each day. Admission and parking are free. The Expo is now in its 11th year and is described as Western Sydney’s biggest, brightest and best leisure show. There’s something there for everyone – whether you’re into camping, four wheel driving, caravanning, fishing, planning your next holiday or just love the great outdoors.

There will be more than 120 exhibitors, indoors and outdoors (beside the lake). Exhibits will include caravans, camper trailers, motor homes, campervans, fishing equipment, kayaks, camping equipment, recreational vehicles, accessories and holiday destination information.

One of the great things about the show is that it is a one-stop shop… you can completely organise your next holiday adventure. You’ll find everything you need and you can compare all the different makes and models in the one location.

There will be weekend demonstrations on caravanning, camping, motor homes and campervans, camp cooking, 4WD accessories, off road touring and pointers on how to plan for that around Australia trip you’ve always dreamed of. Free seminars will also be on offer, covering topics like planning your caravan trip, how to get the best out of motor homing, 4 wheel driving, 4WD tours and safe towing.

As always, the Caravan Clubs of NSW are running a special towing clinic. The Motor home and Campervan Club are offering a drive in a motor home. 4WD Warehouse will be holding special 4WD demonstrations and the Recreational 4WD Clubs Association will be there to provide all the necessary information on 4WDriving outdoors.

And when you’ve seen everything there is to see, head down to the club at Penrith Panthers for a cleansing ale.

ACE Camper Trailers w/ Motorbikes

It opens up a whole new world of fast set up camping and is great for people with small cars or motorbikes who need a break but don’t want to lug all the unnecessary stuff around. Kimberley Karavans

So you’ve tried camping but aren’t prepared to give up the necessities like showering and cooking just yet. With a Kimberley Karavan, you don’t have to. This caravan is for couples who are looking to travel Australia but want to travel light and don’t want the hassle of setting up. The Kimberley Karavan goes on most rugged terrain while giving you a comfortable trip. With a push out bed and inside cooking facilities it means that you can enjoy the comfortable things in life while roughing it in the outback. www.expresstoolsandcamping.com.au

4WD Megastores

The 4WD Megastore stall has been the same every year with demos of how to use all the 4WD gear you could possibly want with everything for your 4WD from the bull bar to the tow bar and everything in between. But this year they’ve made their stand interactive.

Recovery Campsite Challenge

There will be daily competitions that pit two couples against each other to set up a campsite & do a vehicle recovery in the shortest time they can. One half will do stuff like putting up tents and dunny tents, setting up a picnic table and even opening up a bottle of lemonade pre shaken just for a laugh. The fun will be to see couples arguing and setting up frantically so it should be good! The other half has to do a vehicle recovery instead using an exhaust jack, it’s like a big balloon that you attach to the exhaust and then it blows up lifting the vehicle up. They will have to put sand tracks to help get vehicle out of sand. And finally they have to hook up a hand winch.

At the end of the weekend prizes will be given out the top two couples. It should be good fun.

Prizes awarded to which ever two couples got the fastest times. Flip a coin for which prize goes to which couple. www.4wdmegastores.com.au
