Mudgee is the largest town in the Region, and was first settled by Europeans in the 1820s, 12 years before Melbourne, making it the second oldest town west of the Great Dividing Range.

Forgandenny Bed & Breakfast

 

Forgandenny (Circa 1900) is a magnificent Bed and Breakfast Heritage Federation Home overlooking beautiful Lawson Park and the Cudgegong River, ideally located at the gateway to the Mudgee Valley vineyards.

Established in 1858, Oatley Wines is Mudgee’s oldest established vineyard.

Take in the beautiful vineyards and winery building. And you won’t want to miss the terrific wines. Pop into the cellar door and sample some of Oatley Wines delicious crisp whites or enjoy a full bodied red.

Oatley Wines cellar door is open on Saturdays from 10am to 4.30pm and on Sundays from 10am to 4pm.

 

Concert At High Valley Wine & Cheese Co

 

Four times a year concerts are held in Mudgee featuring students from the Sydney Conservatorium.

 

  

Cheese & Wine Talk And Taste 

 

If you stop at High Valley Wine & Cheese Co you may be able to observe the Cheesemaker as he performs his tasks. The 135m² cheese factory has been specifically designed to allow visitors to get a feel for the cheese making process.

Two huge windows into the make room and one each into two of the maturing rooms allow visitors to watch the milk being pasteurised and curdled, the cheeses draining and brining and the mould coats growing on the newly made cheeses. 

You can book a ‘tasting & talking’ session with High Valley Wine & Cheese Co. In groups of between 15 and 50, you will not only get to taste some fabulous cheese and wines but you’ll also get a great insight into the wine and cheese making processes.

As an additional bonus you will also receive a 7.5% discount off your purchases of wine and cheese.

  

Mudgee Races

 

If you’re in Mudgee when the races are on, then be sure to get a ticket and enjoy a day of colour and excitement. Races are held at Gooree Park, just a km outside of Mudgee, and it kicks of at about 12.30pm/1pm.

There are 8 races throughout the day and Fashions on the Field is always a favourite with the ladies.

Races are also held in July, September, October long weekend, Cox Plate Day, and in December.
