When John Oxley stumbled across the Apsley Falls in 1818, he was astonished by their grandeur and “wonderful natural sublimity”. Falling dramatically into a gorge below, Apsley Falls is one of the highlights found within the Oxley Wild Rivers National Park. Long before Oxley arrived, the falls were a meeting place for the local indigenous people called the Thungutti. With nine lookouts over the stunning vista, the Apsley Falls are ideal for bird-watching, picnics, bushwalks and camping.
