Floriade

Reporter: Jason Hodges

Jason unleashes his ‘green fingers’ at Canberra’s annual Floriade flower & garden festival and unwinds in one of the cities new luxury boutique hotels.

Floriade is Australia’s premier spring festival, with more than a million blooms, and a month long festival.

Beginning in 1986 Floriade is now in its 21st year. This year’s theme is ‘Films that Shaped Our Nation’ and it runs until 12th October 2008. A special onsite cinema will showcase rare and special footage from many years of Australian film.

Events include national and international performers, kids’ activities, garden workshops, exhibitions, floral competitions, floral displays and the Craftsman’s Corner featuring Australian made arts, crafts and produce.

The Floriade gardens cover about four hectares, the size of two football fields, and are spread throughout the park.
