Hotel Dining

Reporter: Mel Symons

Hotel restaurants aren’t what they were 20 years ago. Now some of Sydney top restaurants have checked into luxury hotels. Here are our two of our favourites!

Stamford Plaza Double Bay

Overlooking Sydney's beautiful harbour and amidst famous designer fashion boutiques, restaurants and cafés, Stamford Plaza Double Bay offers exceptional personal service with international five-star standards. Relish the atmosphere of this hotel and everything it has to offer – fine location, fine décor, fine service and the very fine dining.

There’s no need to leave the hotel if you want to dine like a king, Baygrill is renowned for its mouth-watering menu that combines great classic traditions with a crisp, clean and contemporary edge.

Whether it’s for breakfast, lunch or dinner, Baygrill will be able to satisfy all your dining needs.

Their international buffet lunch gives you a varied choice of dishes including hot specialties, seafood, soup, fresh salads, continental meats and superb desserts & cheese.

If it’s an evening meal you’re after, look no further than Baygrill Restaurant. With a seasonally changing menu, the Chef takes advantage of the best fresh produce available to create a menu of distinction.

Winstons Lounge

Sit back and unwind in front of the open fireplace at Stamford Plaza Double Bay’s popular bar, Winstons Lounge, the perfect venue for High Tea in the afternoon, champagne in the evening and cocktails after dinner. Winstons also has a delicious bar menu as well as a selection of Singapore favourites.

Named after the cigar-loving British Prime Minister, the Winston’s walls attest to the calibre of its guests with photos that are a veritable “Who’s Who” of world celebrities including Joan Sutherland, John Travolta, Elton John, Madonna, Kylie Minogue, the late Princess Diana, Nicole Kidman and many more. A walk through the room for this reason alone is rewarding and enriches any visit to the hotel.

A specialty of Winstons Lounge is the daily High Tea accompanied by Chado Tea. Served from 2pm, you have the choice of Devonshire Tea with scones, jam and cream; Traditional High Tea with scones, jam and cream plus Chef’s selection of sweet treats and sandwiches; or the ultimate, the Heavenly High Tea – Chado Tea including the Blossom selection, scones, jam and cream, Chef’s premium petit fours and ribbon sandwiches and a glass of Mumm Champagne.

What better way to catch up with friends and family than experiencing the High Tea selection at Winstons Lounge, Stamford Plaza Double Bay.
