Eating Out - Port Mac

Reporter: Felicity Urquhart

Port Macquarie has great beaches, great parks, and great accommodation. And the food scene is the same – it’s great! This area is emerging as a real foodie’s paradise and we’re here to check out 2 of the most popular spots in town.

Rainforest Café at Sea Acres Rainforest Centre

The Sea Acres coastal rainforest community is the largest and most diverse in the region. The forest runs right down to the beach, so you can enjoy the stillness and beauty or the roar of the surf.

Sea Acres was dedicated as a nature reserve in 1987, and was the first coastal landscape to attract a Heritage Listing for the preservation of an area containing an outstanding remnant of coastal rainforest

In addition to the café, this is open every day from 9 am to 4.30 pm, there is an elevated boardwalk through the rainforest, an information centre and gift shop.

Some of the dishes you may find on the menu:

Lunch

  • Croque Monsieur Ham, gruyere, Dijon mustard and béchamel fried sandwich
  • Roasted sweet potato, ricotta and coriander tart with almond salad
  • Salad of asparagus, pumpkin, preserved lemon, goats cheese and prosciutto
  • Beer battered fish and chips with salad and homemade tartare sauce
