Eating Out – Kids

Reporter: Mel Symons

School holidays are here and the big question is where can you take them out for a meal that is family friendly? We’ve found two great spots that will keep them and YOU very happy!

Funarama

Funarama is the Sutherland Shire's largest indoor children's play centre with a three level maze, jumping castles, flying fox, ball pool, slides and much more!

Suitable for children aged 1-13, Funarama is a massive centre with so much space that there’s even enough room for a game of soccer! There’s also a separate toddler's area for the littlies.

Parents are not forgotten either with a relaxing café located within the play centre. Have a coffee, indulge in a hot chocolate or treat yourself to lunch – there’s plenty to choose from.

So if you’re scratching your head and wondering where to take the kids these school holidays then think no more – Funarama is it. Surely the name says it all!

Some of the dishes you may find on the menu:

  • BBQ chicken, sun dried tomatoes, baby rocket and cheese melt

Café La Bay

Eating out with kids can be tricky. You want to find a place that has something that they can eat, has something that you can eat and still has enough for them to do so that you don’t hear the dreaded words – “I’m bored.”

Well fortunately there’s plenty to keep the kids occupied at Café la Bay – conveniently located by the water in Gunnamatta Park in Cronulla. So the kids can bring their bikes and tear up the grass or bring their swimmers and enjoy the beach location. When they’ve finished with that, there’s also a kids playground nearby.

And as for the food … the kids will be happy and so will you. Café la Bay has a small but delicious selection of meals. And for the kids there’s a bunch of meals catering just for them, and they’re just $5 each!!

Some of the dishes you may find on the menu:

Kids Meals

  • Fish Cocktail served with a side salad
  • Sausage on a bun – every kids favourite!
  • Funny Face Pancake – a delicious pancake decorated with bananas, cream and sprinkles!

Main

  • Big Breakfast – 2 eggs, bacon, mushroom, tomato, sausage and toast
  • Café la Bay Fish, Chips and Salad – marinated and grilled fish served with tartare sauce and lemon
  • Smoked Chicken Caesar salad – slightly warmed chicken breast with mixed leaf, bacon pieces, boiled egg, croutons and Caesar dressing
  • Octopus Salad – baby octopus marinated in olive oil, garlic, chilli, coriander, sesame seed oil and soy sauce barbequed and served on a bed of mixed leaf salad
