Manly is one of Sydney’s most popular seaside destinations. Full of attractions and exciting activities including Manly Beach, Oceanworld, kayaking, swimming, tennis, golf, beach volleyball, roller blading, scenic and historical walks, art, parasailing, scuba diving, fishing, dining and so much more. Manly is the perfect destination for your next Sydney escape.
Situated seven miles north-east of Sydney on the lower Northern Beaches, Manly was named by Captain Arthur Phillip after his encounter with the confident and manly Aboriginal people of the Kay-ye-my clan who lived here. Surrounded on three sides by water, Manly is the perfect destination to enjoy both the harbour and the 18 ocean beaches, coves and inlets to swim, sail and surf. But as the locals know, Manly is more than Sydney's premier beach resort. Come by sea or road and take some time to discover its rich heritage and culture, its great shopping, dining and family attractions - it's well worth the trip.
Jellyfish Café
When you’ve been hanging out at the beach and you need to refuel, forget combing your hair and getting the sand out of your cozzie, relax and tuck into some great food at Jellyfish Café in Manly.
Jellyfish is by the water, not in the water, and is owned and run by three surfing mates who wanted a place to stretch out, grab some food and cruise through the day.
So start your cruisy day well by diving into the Jellyfish Big Breakfast piled high with sausages, eggs, bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms and toast or go for the crispy corn and zucchini fritters with roast tomato and lemon ricotta.
After a swim in the ocean and a sun bake on Manly Beach you’ll be ready for lunch and with dishes like the nicoise salad with seared tuna, green beans, olives, capers and fried quail eggs; angel hair pasta with garlic, chilli and prawn broth; and the spiced seared salmon with parsnip puree and walnut salad, Jellyfish know how to keep their customers coming back for more.
The great thing about Jellyfish is that although it’s an easy-going café by day, at night the candles are lit and romance is in the air, though it still holds onto its ‘cool as a cucumber’ vibe.
Head to Jellyfish Café in Manly for the fantastic surf and great food where you can rest easy with a meal and chill out for the whole day.

Blue Water Café
Blue Water is one of the most popular eateries on Manly Beach’s promenade. They’ve built up a strong following of locals who come here for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Like a few of the restaurants along the beachfront, come sunset, the restaurant takes on a different style from a casual café to a smart restaurant.
Blue Water has been around for almost ten years and really does offer the best of Manly with its position, views, friendly service and great food. It’s no surprise that this restaurant describes their food as Mod Oz and where better to enjoy the best of Australian food than sitting across from the majestic Manly Beach.
Dive into the fruits of the ocean with the Asian tasting plate with prawns, dumplings and fishcakes or garlic King Prawns with tomato, basil and chili butter served with wood-fired toast.
The grilled barramundi with salt & pepper prawns has the surf covered and as for the turf, Char-grilled medallions of Beef fillet (250g) with potato rosti, spinach, grilled field mushrooms, red wine jus and béarnaise is the way to the heart of any Manly man.
The Portuguese Espatada is dripping with flavour and don’t leave the beach without tasting the vanilla bean pannacotta.

Whitewater Restaurant
Nothing says romance like a dinner for two and at Whitewater Restaurant in Manly you’ll get that and a whole lot more. Sharing a meal (and a glass or two of the good stuff) is the ultimate way to say I love you, but when you see what’s to offer on the menu you might not want to share!
One of the brightest restaurants in the Sydney dining scene, Whitewater has everything; style, ambience, great service and of course, superlative food. Just across the road from the beach it is a modern take on your typical romantic restaurant. With a loyal following of regulars, Whitewater comes highly recommended and guaranteed to impress.
The a la carte menu features mostly seafood but there is also a very good selection of other dishes as well. The food looks fantastic, but start from the top with drinks and when you order the Tokyo rose cockatil or the spicy lychee it’s a sure fire recipe for romance.
Then get stuck into the starters like the hiramasa kingfish-tartare sashimi with roast capsicum, capers, parsley, lemon olive oil and avruga caviar; or you can go for the whole box and dice with the tasting menu, available with matched wines.
This place has a great vibe. So guys, show off to the ladies by bringing them here. It won’t take much to impress, the food will do it for you with spectacular dishes like petuna salmon in fine pastry and a braise of leek and fennel; saffron tagliatelle with ocean king prawns, chorizo, smoked paprika, lobster stock and aioli; lamb rack cooked with moroccan spices, served with cous cous, baked fig, spiced yogurt and beetroot jus.
And for dessert? Call us predictable but once again we recommend ending your meal with chocolate. The sorbet, mousse and fondant, there’s nothing better.
