CityRail Blue Mountains Explorerlink

Reporter: Tom Jordan

There’s so much to see and do at the Blue Mountains but let’s face it, sitting in the car for hours can get a bit boring. Luckily CityRail has created the perfect solution - the Blue Mountains ExplorerLink ticket.

CityRail operates services to the Blue Mountains, Wollongong, Illawarra, Newcastle, the Hunter and even the Southern Highlands as far as Goulbourn. CityRail trains provide a safe, comfortable and relaxing way to travel … the best part is that you can sit back in air-conditioned comfort while you watch the great Aussie landscape roll by.

A perfect destination, that’s only 2 hours from Sydney by CityRail train, is the gorgeous Blue Mountains. With its wide valleys, waterfalls and cliffs, the Blue Mountains is a unique beauty that can be enjoyed all year round.

Known for its many cafes and restaurants, bushwalking delights, scene stealing landscapes and beautiful panoramic views this world heritage listed region offers so much! Whether you want to go for the day, or make a whole weekend of it, the CityRail Blue Mountains ExplorerLink ticket provides return train travel from Central Station to Katoomba plus an all day “hop on - hop off” Explorer Bus tour, which will take you to 30 locations through the Blue Mountains. This is a great tour for those who enjoy a bit of flexibility when planning their day.

Stops range from art galleries and tea houses to bushwalks, waterfalls and spectacular mountain scenery including the Three Sisters, Scenic Railway and Skyway, Leura Cascades, Everglades Gardens and many more.

The bus operates in a continuous circuit every hour allowing you to alight and rejoin the bus as often as you like. A guide map is included so that you can explore at your own pace.
